Culture, Sport and Leisure
Birmingham has a thriving cultural, sports and leisure sector which serves local and regional needs.
The city centre is home to a number of important venues including Symphony Hall, the Hippodrome and the National Indoor Arena, amongst many others.
The city centre is also host to a variety of cultural events, as well as a growing leisure scene focused around Broad Street, the Hippodrome, Arcadian Centre and Brindleyplace.
The Big City Plan must therefore continue to support Birmingham's cultural, sports and leisure sector at a regional and national level, exploring opportunities for new facilities and initiatives, which will set Birmingham apart from others.
Careful thought must also be given to the needs of local people and the provision of suitable facilities for participation in sport. There is a need for further flexible indoor and outdoor space for events.
