Universities are key tools for future economic success and with well-regarded colleges and universities in the city and wider region, Birmingham should be well placed to deliver the graduate skills base the city needs.
Birmingham needs to provide the range and quality of jobs to attract and retain graduates.
Of course education and skills need to be developed across the range of occupations and skills levels, not just the higher-level qualifications.
A culture of learning is required across the range of skills, but emphasis on people who are disengaged from education at an early age and are trapped in a cycle of low attainment and low aspiration.
